The Cinque Terre (Italian pronunciation: [ˈtʃiŋkwe ˈtɛrre]; Ligurian: Çinque Tære; meaning "Five Lands") are a coastal area within Liguria, in the west of La Spezia Province. There are five small towns within Cinque Terre and their names are (from west to east): Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.
In 1997, the Cinque Terre became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.[1]
Vernazza is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia ("The most beautiful villages of Italy").[2]
Culture
[change | change source]Literature
[change | change source]Important Italian writers and poets wrote about the Cinque Terre.
Eugenio Montale ,[5] Gabriele D'Annunzio and others wrote about them too.
Cinema
